How has everyone's weekend been? Wonderful I hope! Mine was nothing short of perfect, the party was a huge success and I'm now in full-out Bridesmaid mode. And by that I mean that I'm totally channeling Melissa McCarthey's flawless performance in Bridesmaids! LoL Okay, more so Pippa Middleton but still, haha. But now onto why you're here...
I have a HUGE, MEGA, GINORMOUS, GIGUNDOUS, etc. kit that I'm working on and I am so excited about this one, seriously. The color palette is second only to that of Ready, Set, Go! for me, which means a freebie frenzy for you guys and gals. I know you all despise a large influx of free kits and I apologize for inflicting that upon you... ;-)
The kit is titled, "Shimmer" and it's all about the shimmer of winter, holidays, light, snow and so much more. It's a Winter kit so hopefully you all are not completely exhausted by the surplus of them available this time of year. If you are...well...look deep within and find a reason to love it!
As you can see, this is a set of 29 34 unique snowflakes, many of which feature a shimmer-like gloss. I personally LOVE how they turned out. This is only the FIRST of many parts of this kit and I will be releasing all beginning today and over the next few days.
On a completely different note, I have received an inquiry into using my products for commercial use, specifically creating non-scrapbook kit products, i.e. cards, etc., to sell on Etsy, Ebay and Craft Fairs. My purpose for this site has never been to make financial gain, as stated I love freebies and with so many phenomenally talent designers out there - it can easily become expensive when purchasing kits. And that is why my products created for this blog will forever and always be available free of charge for your personal use. Also, I'm a new designer (not that I feel I've earned that title yet!) and don't feel my abilities warrant payment. I mean, with designers like Mommyish, Miss Tiina, Kate Hadfield, Flergs, Shabby Miss Jenn (and far, far more) I can't hold a candle to their talent. I'm having fun, I adore this venture and it has allowed me the opportunity to connect with the most kind and lovely new friends (y'all! And if you visit this site then you're automatically a friend!) in this scraping community, something I had not done previous and had been a bit intimidated to even attempt doing so.
Yet the inquiry got me to thinking about the commercial aspect of my free products. Part of me would want to just allow you all to use what you like for any purpose, the honor of your use of my silly hobby enough of a compensation. And it is, actually. I'm floored by the thought. However, I've not thought about things in the long run and would not want to set a precedence that I would later find detrimental to my work and to you all who were promised one thing and then having that being made void. I haven't a clue as to the monetary gain to be had by the use of my products now or in the future which makes it difficult to both determine an appropriate price point for a limited CU license, let alone one that would be equitable to me for you in gaining a profit from my work.
Long story short, I am going to be creating a LIMITED CU license which will be available for purchase through donation very soon. This license, at this time, would not be an allowance to create your own scrapbook kits for use BUT it would allow you to do things like such as the cards mentioned already. I will list specifics once the license is complete but would appreciate all of your input as to what exactly you would like to do with my products commercially. Again, it never crossed my mind that anyone would want to use my work for personal use, let alone commercial, so I'm a bit befuddled with this all.
Another reason why selling this specific license would be so that you have an actual document detailing your rights (and my own), as well as enabling me to have record of those who have such permissions and allow me to view and know of what you've created. I will promote any and all of your commercial products using my work on this site, which I will also do for anyone who wants to simply share what they've completed for their personal use.
To end, I have a favor to ask of you all. If you have had personal experience with selling your work commercially, PLEASE contact me with your advice and what specifically was conducive to creating an effective terms of use. I also want to hear from you all who are, like myself, strictly scrappers. What rights would you want in a license you purchase? What would be an appropriate prices for said license? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
I have much more to share but I've blabbed enough for now! Please know that without any specific permissions granted through a purchase license - you MAY NOT use my products for commercial gain or creating scrapbook KITS. Non-commercial items such as journal cards, layouts, etc. created with my work is both welcome and encouraged. Thanks for your continued support!
